Gear Review: PGYTECH OneMo 2 Camera Backpack 25L

The PGYTECH OneMo2 25L Camera Backpack.

It’s been a while since I wrote my last gear review but this summer, I got the opportunity to put PGYTECH’s OneMo 2 camera backpack to the test. This 25L pack is presented as an All-In-One Camera Bag for Professional Photographers but after relying on it during a two-day shoot for Wildflowers, I discovered that the OneMo 2 is also well suited to Documentary Filmmakers shooting on mirrorless cameras or DSLR’s.

Full disclosure — I received the bag in exchange for writing an honest review. It just so happens that I ended up with a camera backpack that fit my current needs and personal preferences. Read on for my first impressions, packing list, two favourite features and one critique of the OneMo 2.

First Impressions

When I unboxed the OneMo2 25L camera backpack, I was immediately drawn to its sleek and minimalist look. Upon hands-on inspection, I was impressed by the feel of the Space Black exterior, which is made with a high-performance PU-coated material to protect gear in all environments. I proceed to explore the bag’s design and was impressed by the number of thoughtful features integrated into the design.

The OneMo2 features theft-deterrent YKK zippers, a clamshell opening to the main compartment, and padded laptop and iPad sleeves—two adjacent sleeves with a bungee cord to secure your laptop when opening and closing the clamshell. The front compartment houses mesh pockets and expanded to fit my assembled DJI Ronin SC. The main compartment is partitioned by fully customizable velcro-fastened inserts, has secondary side access, and snugly houses a separate Shoulder Bag.

The included Shoulder Bag — fits snugly inside the clamshell compartment but functions as an independent bag for shooting on-the-go with a minimalist setup.

As a 5’1” female, the kind of rugged gear I’m after is often too big and bulky. While I may still look petite in proportion to the bag, it was entirely functional. I was able to adjust the OneMo 2 to fit nicely around my shoulders. The back panel, shoulder straps, and hip straps are incredibly well-padded, bringing extra comfort to the equation. The straps and exterior are also equipped with several gear attachment points including a designated smartphone pocket, a camera clip attachment point perfectly suited for my Peak Design Capture Camera Clip, and sturdy loops for my carabiner of car/house keys.

My overall first impression of PGYTECH’s OneMo 2 was that this camera backpack is thoughtfully designed and loaded with clever features.

What’s In My Bag

The main compartment of the OneMo2 featuring a clamshell opening.

Here’s what I packed in the OneMo2 for a 3-day documentary film shoot:

  • Canon R5C body

  • Canon 90D body

  • Canon EF to RF adapter

  • Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8

  • Canon EF 50mm f/2.8

  • Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6

  • Canon EF 24mm f/2.8

  • Lens Protective Wrap

  • Rode Wireless Go II with 2 lav mics and role of Moleskin tape

  • Tascam onboard mic

  • headphones

  • CreateMate card reader case

  • memory cards, card reader, chargers, cables, microfibre cloths

  • 3x external hard drive

  • 3x LP-E6NH batteries and charger

  • NiceyRig cage and handle

  • MacBook Air and charger

  • Notebook

  • Waterbottle

  • DJI Ronin SC (packed separately but fit in the V-Shape Expansion front pocket)

I not only fit all the gear I needed into the OneMo2, but I was also able to pack it in logical way. Everything was well-protected yet easily accessible.

My Two Favourite Features

I was thrilled when I discovered that the side access pocket to the main compartment of the OneMo2 has three camera battery sleeves with charge level indicators.

Secondary access to the main compartment features battery storage with usage indicators.

I was also pleasantly surprised when I opened up the clamshell to find the integrated Shoulder Bag. It proved extremely useful when I needed to bring one camera body and a couple of lenses with me to do exterior shots or grab certain b-roll sequences on the go. With its well-placed handle, it slides easily in and out of the main clamshell compartment, even when loaded with gear. I know I’ll continue using this in a variety of situations, both with the 25L pack and on its own.

So far, my only critique of PGYTECH’s OneMo 2 25L camera bag is that it only comes in one size and does not currently offer a women-specific fit. If you’re looking for something smaller or lighter, the OneGo Air might be a great fit for you. Overall, I appreciate the bag’s thoughtful design and look forward to testing it in more demanding wilderness environments.
